My fellow classmates and teacher, pleasant morning. My presentation will focus on the negative impact of smoking cigarettes. I will demonstrate to you that cigarette smoking is not the best choice for your welfare since it can cause serious health issues, addiction and inhibit growth of young persons.
To begin with, many cigarette smokers suffer from serious health issues. Smoking lowers the resistance levels. As a result, it weakens the immune system causing one to catch viruses which leads to shortness of breath, lung infection, bronchitis and pneumonia. Smokers are at high risk for developing heart attacks, strokes and lung cancer.
Furthermore, smoking cigarettes can cause addiction. Many people believe that smoking cigarettes will relieve stress and help them to focus and relax. This is far from the fact. Smoking releases a hormone in the body that can cause uneasiness. As people continue to smoke, they eventually become addicted to the nicotine. Smokers who try to stop smoking become agitated as they experience anxiety, headaches and fatigue. Research has shown that young people who smoke become addicted by the age of 21.
