ICDL Professional

Digital transformation is affecting every level of work. Many roles have evolved to rely closely on technology, while new sectors and new categories of work are emerging that are entirely technology dependent.  Around the world, most professional roles now require digital skills.

To remain relevant and competitive, organisations of every type are integrating technology into their working practices. These organisations require working professionals that are digitally literate and can collaborate in an international setting, with easily transferrable skills

“Estimates indicate that 75 million jobs may be displaced by a shift in the division of labour between humans and machines, while 133 million new roles may emerge that are more adapted to the new division of labour between humans, machines and algorithms”
—Future of Jobs Report, 2018 World Economic Forum

A career progression tool

Using standardised certification is key to purposeful professional growth. Industry experts from around the world contribute to the creation of ICDL modules. It’s this expert approach, combined with our rigorous testing methodologies and quality assurance, that makes ICDL the clear choice for career development frameworks supporting continuing professional development.

Building knowledge economies

Economies all around the world are implementing policies to develop labour markets based on skills. Competency-based models such as ICDL offer an alternative to other training approaches, as they measure demonstrated proficiency rather than completion rates.

Professional bodies recognise the importance of formal competence development. Around the world, organisations are using ICDL in their modernisation strategies. Two examples are the accountants’ association in Singapore (ACCA), which uses ICDL and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL), which is developing a special ICDL Professional Legal programme for members.

Did you know?

The media often reports that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will destroy jobs. In fact, technology is likely to replace repetitive tasks, not jobs. Experts believe that there will be a net gain in jobs, but they will be higher-value roles that focus more on human capabilities.
